Wedding Stationery Timeline

8-13 Months Before: Save the Dates

Traditionally Save The Dates are mailed out six months to a year before your big day, with destination weddings leaning more towards a year to allow your guests to book their flights & make their reservations. Allow at least 4-6 weeks for design and printing depending on your project.

3-5 Months Before: Invitations

Plan to send your wedding invitations out 6-8 weeks before your big day.
If you did not send save the dates aim for closer to 10-12 weeks.
Allow at least 6-8 weeks for design and printing depending on your project.

3 + Months Before: Rehearsal Dinner, Welcome Party, Brunch, and other Weekend Event Invitations

If these are not being mailed with your main invitation, you can send them out 4-6 weeks before the event. Please allow 4-6 weeks for design and printing based on your project.

1-3 Months Before: Programs, Menus, Place/Escort Cards, and Other Day-of Stationery

These last minute items often can't be made until you have received your RSVPs, but keep in mind that it's cheaper to order a few extra than to order rush design, printing, and shipping.

Anytime Before: Thank You Notes

We recommend ordering thank you notes at the same time as your wedding invitations so that you can get started right away. Although it is commonly said that you have a year to write thank you notes, it's ideal to mail them within 2-3 weeks of receiving the gift. Please allow 3-6 weeks for design and printing based on your project.

Don't forget to save time for addressing or calligraphy if you are not ordering printed envelopes!
