How do I start the design process?

Say hello through the form on the site. The first step is getting to know you, your future sweetie and the feel of your wedding or event. I will ask for all kinds of details about your event. Over email, phone, or coffee, we'll talk about colors, table arrangements, inspiration images, budget and more. Once we have all the details, we'll talk about process, design, printing methods and paper choices. The goal is to create the perfect invitation suite for you, so the more details you can provide, the better! Hop on over to The Custom Process page for a more in depth look.

How much do custom invitations cost?

Because no two invitations are alike, there is not a set price. The intricacy of the design, the number of pieces (like save the dates, invitations, place cards, menus, napkins...etc), the number of guests you will have, the printing methods & materials you are looking to use, all affect the price of your suite. Once we have chatted about all the details of your event, I will be happy to provide a custom quote.

When should I order?

How long your project will take depends on your project! Rush jobs can sometimes be accommodated, but please inquire first. In general and without a rush service, flat printing takes about 1 week after you approve your proofs. Letterpress and foil stamping takes about 2-3 weeks. How long the design/editing can be anywhere from 1 week to 4 weeks depending on how quickly you get back to me with edits. I usually respond to edits within 1 business day. For fully custom, from-scratch orders, please allow
2-3 weeks for design time before viewing your first proof.

For a basic list of what to order and when, check out the wedding stationery timeline page.

Will I see a proof of the design before the invitation is printed?

Of course! A full color PDF will be emailed to you for proofreading copy and checking over design details. Keep in mind that while I will try to catch any errors if at all possible, proofreading is ultimately the client's responsibility.

Please, proof, proof, proof and make sure your invitations are error free before they go to press. Reprinting any part of your invitations will be an additional fee if errors are discovered after production begins. If you have any special concerns, please call or email to discuss them. I am happy to provide answers and insight.

Will you send me a printed proof before printing all of them?

All proofing is done digitally, however, upon request, I am more than happy to send a printed proof/mock up your way! Keep in mind however, that proofs for offset printing, letterpress printing, & foil stamping are only done in the digital printing format (as the printing process for these options are more complex). Please note, a additional fee may apply to cover the associated materials & printing fees.

Is there a method to choosing quantities?

We recommend ordering extras to accommodate last minute guest additions, incorrect addressing and keepsakes. Ordering an additional small quantity is much less expensive than re-ordering later. Also remember, your quantity should reflect the amount of families and couples attending your event, not the number of actual people attending. Lastly, keep in mind that calligraphers (and you) will need additional envelopes (about 10%) for possible mistakes when addressing invitations.

What about printing?

For all letterpress printing, foil stamping & offset printing I work closely with wonderful printers to get the highest quality prints on the best quality materials. There is not a minimum quantity for printing digital paper goods, though for things like letterpress & gold foil, the minimum quantity is 25, and most of the time, it is more cost effective the larger the quantity you order. Take a gander at the Perfectly Printed page.

Do you offer hand-lettering and calligraphy?

While I offer modern hand-lettering and hand painted/inked lettering, traditional calligraphy is handled by a few specially chosen vendors. Custom envelope lettering runs between $3 - $6.50+ per envelope, depending on the complexity & the style of the design. Please note that calligraphy and hand-lettering will add additional project time based on your quantities.

Will you assemble and mail my invitations?

While invitation assembly is available as a service for $1 per suite, stamping and mailing is the responsibility of the client.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Cash, Check or PayPal. Personal check is the preferred method of payment.
